The music of Eduardo Bort
Well, I was about to hear the music of Eduardo Bort, in a round about way. After Greg and Geoff agreed to record with Eduardo, I was invited to studios in Valencia to meet Bea Sánchez, who was to record a demo vocal of the proposed album. I took Greg along, who was interested to know what kind of music Eduardo played.
Well, Bea Sánchez held us spellbound! The song being recorded uses the words of a famous Spanish poet, it is called 'El Mitin'. Bea has a way of singing that is strong, emotional and quite sensual. Greg and I were astounded.
Later I was invited to a concert of Bea's in Denia to see her in full swing. Singing and dancing to a Spanish audience she held the appreciative crowd spellbound.
Then, late in 2003 the unthinkable happened. Greg Ridley passed away!
While visiting Greg in hospital in Alicante, he asked about Eduardo and how were the recording plans going. He was looking forward to the project starting.
Live in Denia
In December of 2003 Eduardo was offered the opportunity to hold a concert at the Casa de Cultura, in Denia.
He dedicated the concert to Greg's memory.
On the morning of the concert work began. I arrived at around 12:00 am to find Fabio Miano relaxing on the piano (literally), Bea and her twin sister Martina Sánchez (also a singer) sat in the stalls chatting, Lola, the dancer, was working out a little at the side of the stage and Lito, the percussionist was sitting smiling in a friendly way. Eduardo asked if he could use my Fender guitar, as he wasn't happy with the guitar he had. The rest of the afternoon passed by with Eduardo directing operations in a very precise, yet friendly way. It was obvious that he knew exactly what he wanted of everybody there.
The concert was a success! Eduardo had me translate a personal dedication to Greg Ridley, later on he unexpectedly invited me improvise a theme with him. He played 4 themes solo on the acoustic guitar, later he played along with the rest of the band (of extremely qualified musicians) directing the music for his projected L.P. Included were dances by Lola, songs performed by Bea Sánchez, songs performed by Martina Sánchez, solos by Fabio Miano and the excellent Sax player also a solo with drums and percussion interspersed with Bea's and Martina's voices. Incredible. Never before have I experienced a concert quite like this one.

To the new album....
