Fonts D'Algar - mountain waterfalls A visit to Fonts D'Algar is a must for anyone who enjoys nature. This really is one of the jewels of the Costa Blanca.

As you near the waterfall area you will find many parking areas with attendants guiding you in to each of them. Drive past! These are touts selling private parking spaces. Go all the way to the entrance and you will find the official car park, much cheaper. If there is no space there, you can return and use one of the dearer private car parks

There is a small charge for entering the waterfalls, but it is worth it. From the large fall at the entrance you can follow trails way up into the hill, through woods scattered with wild plants and herbs growing alongside the crystal clear water.

Over the years, things have changed a lot here. I remember free entrance and a much wilder undergrowth, but of course, with the growing popularity of the waterfalls, many more people are walking around the area.
I used to bring picnics here too, but that is now prohibited, due I imagine to careless people leaving mountains of rubbish.

So after your meal in Tárbena, what could be better than to lay in the shade of the trees and let the sound of trickling water relax you, while you prepare for Guadalest, the last stage of your tour of the Costa Blanca interior.
