A typical Javea village doorway.
You will see, if you study closely, the small inset door for people to enter.
The doorways were made large to allow the donkey and cart to enter, hence the
grooves in the doorstep.

Just a pair of knockers.
I'm told this one is typical of the village of Javea. You will still see a few
of these around the old town.

Somewhat fancier,
this door knocker represents, what looks like, a wild cat attacking a hare.
The door and building are also quite interesting to see.

|
This is an interesting photo.
El Portal del Clot is situated on the left as you pass the second set of
traffic lights entering the old town from the Gata road. This photo is
somewhere around 70 years old, I believe.

This Photograph, taken by
Emilio de Alta,
was taken last year, 2000. Notice any similarities to the picture above?
|
This Photograph is actually fake!
Emilio de Anta
took the original,
Then spent hours removing the petrol station from the background
and filling in the background with the stone wall......

This Photograph, also taken by
Emilio de Alta
last year, 2000, is of La Placa Baixa. Located within the old town, down the
steps from the Town Hall.
Emilio
is currently working on an
old
photograph of the same location.
nb:
Sadly
Emilio
passed away in November 2001. I miss a good friend and discussion
partner.
